The Bat

The day after a rough shoplifting incident at Tangerine during the spring season of 2018, I was left feeling pretty violated and angry. However, knowing I couldn’t stay in this feeling and that I had to move past it, I knew I would have to do something with the intense energy flowing through me from the ordeal. So I decided meditating would be a good resolution for just this! Turning to a powerful guided meditation called the Caldron of Transformation before going into work was a wonderful fit for just that. While also allowing me to start the day off on a much better foot and leaving the frustrations of the previous day behind with it. In the meditation I imagined my dark and angry energy as a bat and as prompted by the meditation then transforming it into a joyful and light butterfly. Upon opening my eyes post meditative session I felt the heaviness lift and I really did feel so much better!

The guided meditation put me in such a good mood I quickly found it to be a totally different day than the one before it. Not only was my mood feeling lighter but I was having a really wonderful time with what seemed like back to back visits from a number of my all time favorite customers and some great sales to make up for the previous days theft hit. While all of this fun was happening I had no idea that for the majority of the day just outside my door and by the sign of my shop, a bat happened to perch itself on the brick wall. It really wasn’t until the owner of the coffee shop next door to me notified me to it, or I probably would have missed it altogether. First off I have never seen a bat do this before or really seen many bats in general much less one so unmistakably right in front of me. I fully took this bat as a sign of what I had accomplished in my morning meditation and how the universe wanted to show me just how powerful the transformation of energy had really been.

I try to think of this bat anytime I find myself in a position that feels unfair or like my power has been taken from me. Knowing I can get it back in another form if I want, by working with the energy surrounding it and how transformative it can be, because nothing is what it seems and there’s always magick at play.
