The Lovers is card number 6 in the Tarot’s Major Arcana. Number 6 in numerology is all about the heart, representing unconditional love with the ability to support, nurture, and heal. Carrying the vibration of compassion, empathy, and love of service to others. This number has a strong connection to emotional partnerships with its energetic association of harmony, caregiving, and emotional security.

The Lovers card represents the chemistry, or even magic, felt from a shared connection of a newly formed relationship, making anything feel possible! Showcasing the inner state of harmonious emotions experienced, which are mirrored and amplified back, creating a state of pure bliss. While this energy can be reached through the connection of another person, it can also be experienced through the connection of self-love, bringing about a deeper understanding and appreciation of oneself. Being in love makes the whole world feel rosy with the delightful swell of emotional highs experienced, giving way to a new appreciation of how wonderful life is. On one side of the coin, this card can highlight feelings of stirred sexual arousal and strong passion formed from this special connection. The other side can draw attention to the purity of love with feelings of unconditional love and connection shared between a parent and child. Regardless of how it’s experienced, it’s sure to bring about the best version of yourself and so much joy!

  • General Meaning- Romantic love, self-love, compassion, chemistry, unity, divine connection, & passion

  • When out of Alignment- Lust, disharmony, imbalance, misalignment of values, & blocked heart center

Navigating The Lovers archetypal energy-

When The Lovers come up, it’s a card to set hearts aflutter with the delightful feelings of the honeymoon stage of a new relationship, past, present, or future. Whether that relationship is romantic, platonic, one with the self, or as a parent or caretaker, the big and exciting emotions stirred are undeniable. At the core of its essence, connecting with the grand and beautiful emotion of love is truly a direct connection to Source (The Universe, God, etc) itself, in its own unique divine expression, which is why it feels so powerful to experience. To fully allow yourself to experience the full extent of this divine energy, you have to allow yourself to feel safe enough to be vulnerable and open, particularly being able to open your heart center and receive it. This can be a really big ask for those who have had less-than-nurturing caretakers growing up, or those who’ve experienced devastating heartbreak of one kind or another, and are scared to go through it again. But to those lucky enough to have this card come up, I say take the risk. Allow yourself to be soft and gentle, believe that the best can happen, and know you are worthy of receiving it.

In this card, we see our lovers in a sweet embrace, gazing romantically into each other’s eyes, savoring a special moment. Surrounding the lovers is a calm river set in a lush forest at golden hour. The warmth of the green forest represents the energetic heart center and is symbolic of two open, receptive hearts able to connect and experience a profound and divine love together. The tranquil body of water symbolizes smooth sailing ahead for the happy couple. We also see the couple’s powerful connection to nature in how the environment around them responds to their beautiful love.

Next up, connecting with the movement and intention of The Chariot. Stay tuned for the next card release in The Green Mountain Major Arcana’s journey next Friday, 6/6!

With love,
